Lesson 2.2 Upper & Lower Cabinets (interior and exterior)

Upper Cabinets (interior and exterior):
- Depending on the condition of the cabinets a putty knife or non-scratch pad may be needed for cleaning.
- Open the cabinet, depose of any items left in the cabinet. Starting with the top shelf of the cabinet, clean the cabinet shelves and walls from top to bottom, using a degreaser cleaner, warm soapy water and a clean towel.
- While the cabinet door is open, clean around the cabinet’s frame, hinges (all sides), and the inside of the cabinet door.
- Close the door then clean the outside of the cabinet door and knobs or handles.
- If the cabinet is not connected to the ceiling, clean top exterior of the cabinet.
- Clean underneath the cabinet.
- Repeat these steps, until all the upper cabinets are cleaned.
Lower Cabinets and Drawers (interior and exterior):
- Evaluate the condition of the cabinets and drawers to determine if a putty knife or non-scratch pad may be needed for cleaning.
- Dispose of any items from cabinets and drawers before cleaning.
Lower Cabinet Drawers:
- Pull lower cabinet drawer completely out and take them to your wash station.
- Turn the drawer on its side, wiping out any dirt particles with a damp cloth.
- Use a putty knife or a non-scratch pad to remove any stubborn or hard to remove dirt, then proceed with cleaning inside of the drawer.
- Using a degreaser, clean the tracks and edges removing any dirt or grime.
- Wipe off the drawer frame to the cabinet.
- Place the drawer back into the cabinet and clean the front of the drawer and its knobs or handles.
- Proceed to cleaning the cabinet underneath the drawer.
Lower Cabinets:
- Open the lower cabinet, starting with the top shelf of the cabinet, clean the cabinet shelves and walls from top to bottom, using a degreaser cleaner, warm soapy water and a clean towel.
- While the cabinet door is open, clean around the cabinet’s frame, hinges (all sides), and the inside of the cabinet’s door.
- Close the door then clean the outside of the cabinet door and knobs or handles.
- Repeat these steps, until all drawers and lower cabinets are cleaned.
Now refresh your workstation with warm soapy water and get a clean towel.
