Lesson 2.5 Microwave, Stove and Oven Cleaning Process
Microwave, Stove and Oven Cleaning Process:
Microwave:
- Remove the removable parts (such as the glass plate, roller ringer, or rack) from the microwave set them aside by the cleaning station. Carefully, remove any tempered glass.
- Using warm soapy water and a clean towel, clean the inside of the microwave, starting at the top of the microwave, both sides, back and the bottom of the microwave.
- Use a non-scratch pad and degreaser if needed.
- Clean the inside of the door of the microwave and the edges around the door.
- Return to cleaning station, wash and dry the microwave plate and other parts removed, place them back into the microwave and close the door.
Cleaning the exterior of the microwave:
- Start at the top, cleaning the sides, bottom and door handle.
Vent Screen (if exists):
- Shake excess water off the screen and put the vent screen back in its place.
Now refresh your workstation with warm soapy water and get a clean towel.
Stove:
Stove with Cooktop:
- Remove the knobs from the stove and set them aside by the cleaning station.
- Using a scouring stick, clean the stove top, scrub the area to remove any cooked-on food appearing on its surface then wipe with a warm soapy towel.
- Clean knobs then put them back in place.
Oven (interior and exterior):
Interior Cleaning:
- Open the oven door and remove all the racks.
- Clean both sides from top to bottom and set them aside.
- Clean the inside of the oven door and any oven seals (if exists).
- Proceed to cleaning the inside of the oven from top to bottom side to side.
- Place the clean racks back into the oven.
- Pull out the bottom drawer, spray it with a degreaser and set it aside by the cleaning station.
Exterior Cleaning:
- If possible, carefully pull the stove away from the wall to access.
- Using a degreaser, clean both sides of the stove including the back of the stove.
- Clean the side of cabinets around the stove and baseboards.
- Using the broom and dustpan, sweep the floor, pick-up and discard the trash then mop the floor behind the stove, use the appropriate floor cleaner.
- Push stove back into its original position.
- Using warm soapy water and a degreaser (if needed), clean the front of the stove. DO NOT use an abrasive scratch pad on the front of the stove.
- Return to workstation to clean each oven drawer, turn the drawer on the side then take a damp cloth and clean inside the drawer to ensure no dirt or loose debris remains, use degreaser if needed.
Now refresh your workstation with warm soapy water and get a clean towel.
