Lesson 1.2 – Initial Assessment & Preparation

Initial Assessment:
- Conduct a thorough assessment of the toilet and toilet bowl, checking for any hard water stains or rust buildup
- This will assist you with planning and timing the cleaning accordingly.
Preparation:
- Sanitation and Safety:
- Be sure to wear the proper gloves and a mask.
- Cleaning Products and Supplies:
- Based upon your assessment, place the needed products in your supplies carry bucket and gather any other needed supplies.
Reminders:
- Do not mix cleaners. It’s important to do a thorough rinse after using each product. Mixing products may be dangerous to your health and may cause a chemical reaction as well as damage the surface.
- Refresh your water and use clean towels during the cleaning of the toilet.
- Toilet Bowl: If hardwater or rust exists in the bowl, apply an acid bowl cleaner; otherwise, apply a toilet bowl cleaner.
These steps ensure that surfaces are pre-treated for effective cleaning.
